This recipe is designed for a backpacking adventure. If you are making it at home, I recommend using old fashioned or steel cut oats vs. instant oats.
Ingredients (mix all together in a Ziploc bag)
1/4 cup dehydrated/chopped apple
1/4 cup unsweetened dried shredded coconut
1/4 cup chopped cashews
1/2 t ground turmeric
2 T brown sugar
1/2 t cinnamon
1/2 cup plain instant oats
1 1/4 cup water
Instructions
Boil 1 1/4 cups water (I boil more for coffee at the same time)
After the water is boiled pour off any extra water you made for coffee, turn off the heat, add in your oatmeal mix, cover and wait 2-3 minutes.
Tip: 1 apple yields about 1/2 cup dehydrated. I like to use half the apple for breakfast and add the other half into my lunch pita creation.
